>Isn’t it a shame you can’t see fish out of the Eurostar window?
This was my nieces' complaint when they went to Paris! Though I suspect the Channel wouldn't exactly have looked like Finding Nemo even if there was a view.
This resonates! And I’m glad you’re finding your feet again. (Though with your novels you clearly have been productive, even if they did take longer than intended.)
I once wrote a lot, too, back in the ‘80s when I worked at Just Seventeen and I managed to segue back into freelancing after I had children. But somehow I got so caught up in the admin side (school governor, PTA rep, charity trustee, alongside some p/t dull editing work) that writing fell by the wayside. I lost the hunger.
Thank you so much! And I’m glad you’re getting back to writing too, I’m sure it’ll be all the richer for experience gained in those intervening years… If you want to write a Just Seventeen for 36-year-olds I’d be grateful.
You’re just a bit younger than my triplet daughters, who are all juggling work ambitions with parenting, so I’m sure your writing will strike a chord with a lot of people.
Omg Lauren related to this so much!!!!! (except replace pregnancy/baby brain with chronic illness)
My fave pieces from the era of the Fun Budget were probably… my visit to the Belgian Frites Museum as a potato fan, something called “where have all the boy bands gone” and the time I reviewed pet Spotify 😂😂😂

I still say it! And every time my husband reminds me the tunnel actually goes *under* the sea, not through it, and every time I tell him to shhh
Oh my god how glad I am I found you !!
I am so glad you’re glad!! Thanks for being here x

"I am simply quite lazy. Ultimately as much as I love writing, I will always prefer watching TV in the bath." - THE ACCURACY 👌🏻👌🏻 Welcome to Substack!
The day I discovered I could perch an iPad on the loo seat changed EVERYTHING. Delighted to be here!

omg exquisite specimens! The frites museum might even trump my countdown of the ultimate crisp sandwiches, with superfluous three-day photoshoot
Having recently visited said museum as a fella potato lover I’m off to Google the article…
Omgggggggg I think I remember that!!!
So glad to see you here!
This is a delight! Never laughed so hard reading a newsletter.
Loved reading this!
